Bridgeforth honored with Civil Rights Award

Gertrude Bridgeforth, age 96, has been honored by the DeSoto-Marshall County Federation of Democratic Women with their 2019 Civil Rights award for her work in voter registration through the years, dating back to the 1960s. Bridgeforth supported the 1966 March Against Fear with James Meredith from Memphis to Jackson, Miss. Kelly Jacobs presented Bridgnorth the award during a luncheon on March 23.
