Judge Doug Hollowell III is sworn in as District One Justice Court judge by Desoto County Chancery Court Clerk Misty Heffner on Monday.

The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors appointed Judge Doug Hollowell III to the Justice Court District One seat on Monday. The seat was vacated by Judge Ken Adams last week — who served 25 years on the bench — to run for mayor of Olive Branch.

Judge Hollowell III was sworn in by Chancery Court Clerk Misty Heffner. This is just a temporary appointment, and a special election will be held in November to fill the remaining three years of the term.

A native of Olive Branch, Judge Hollowell III worked two years with the district attorney’s office for the Third Circuit Court of Mississippi. He also worked for law firms in Oxford, Little Rock, and Southaven before starting his own law firm.
