New DeSoto deputies excel in training

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department is welcoming four new deputies who excelled during the 12-week Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer’s Training Academy in Pearl. The group brought back awards ranking them in the top tier of their class. The awards were for firearms training and academics. The course also involved physical fitness, defensive driving, knowledge of state laws and other areas. From left are Deputy Keith Canizaro, Deputy Marlin Fletcher, Sheriff Bill Rasco, Deputy Stephen Taylor and Deputy Billy Royal.
