Accident scene

A 31-year-old man died in a motorcycle accident Sunday in Horn Lake after apparently losing control and crashing into a guardrail.

Interim DeSoto County Coroner Josh Pounders said the victim has been identified as Johnny Lynn Green, 31, of Southaven.

Green is the grandson of Paul Leslie Riley, a former DeSoto County supervisor.

Pounders said that Green was traveling on his motorcycle along Interstate Boulevard, just south of Miss. Highway 302, when the accident occurred.

Green apparently lost control of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle hit a curb and ultimately hit a guardrail, according to Pounders. Green was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven where he was pronounced dead at 3:27 p.m. Sunday.

During the past several weeks there have been several accidents involving motorcycles on area roads and the interstate, one in which a Horn Lake firefighter was severely injured. Another firefighter was injured in a separate accident.

Horn Lake firefighter Gene Riley is said to still be recovering from his injuries received back on Sept. 2 when he struck a deer while traveling on Interstate 69.
