Northwest receives OCR/ADA compliance review

Northwest Mississippi Community College President Dr. Michael Heindl (first row, left) recently received a letter of OCR/ADA compliance from the Mississippi Community College Board following a lengthy review process that began in 2017. The college received minor findings after last year’s site review of how well Northwest’s facilities are in compliance with Americans With Disabilities Act policies and Office of Civil Rights mandates, and those findings have since been corrected. “The college has made great efforts over the years to ensure our campus is readily accessible to all students,” said Physical Plant Director Mary Ayers (first row, second from right). “Renovations of key facilities such as McCormick Administration Building, McLendon Center, and Howard Coliseum; the new construction of Tate Hall; and improvements to college elevators, parking, and campus pedestrian travel were initiated to meet the needs of our students, specifically those with physical impairments.” Congratulating Physical Plant employees are (first row, l to r) Dr. Heindl; Assistant Physical Plant Director Mark Crockett; Ayers; and Vice President of Administration and Finance Jeff Horton. Completing the work were (second row, l to r) Richard Walley, Michael Carson, Scotty Bulliner, Chris Anderson, John Daniel, Roy Hunt, Jeff Barham and Scott Ashe.
