Accident investigation

One person was seriously hurt late Wednesday afternoon when a vehicle he was driving collided with an 18-wheel semitrailer truck at a Southaven intersection.

Police reported the wreck took place about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Getwell and Goodman Roads.

The semi-truck was eastbound on Goodman Road and the convertible was westbound on Goodman and in the process of making a left turn onto Getwell Road, police said. The report added it appeared the crash occurred with both vehicles in the intersection when the traffic light was yellow.

Only the drivers were in each vehicle and the car driver was the only one hurt. He was airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis where he was undergoing treatment Wednesday evening and remained in critical condition Thursday morning, according to police.

Police have not identified the persons involved and had no immediate update on the victim's condition.
