HERNANDO

Joan “JoAnn” Robison Rogers, 80, from Hernando, passed away on Oct. 3, 2017. She was born Sept. 12, 1937 in Starkville. She graduated from Hernando High School and Mississippi College for Women where she earned a degree in Library Science. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Lucille Robison and her husband, John Rogers. Dr. Rogers was a practicing dentist in Senatobia for many years. Joan is survived by her sister, Nancy Robison Loftin (John); her brother, Mike Robison (Lola); her children, Ellen Rogers Graham (John), Jack Rogers (Jene) and her grandchildren, Sarah Rogers Parker (Devin), Kyle Rogers, John Ross Graham and Mary Claire Graham. A member of Hernando United Methodist Church since the 1950’s, Joan served on many committees. In addition to being active in her church, she was also active in her community and served on the Planning Commission for Hernando. She was a founding member of the Hernando Book Club, a member of the Friends of the Library, a member of the Hernando Civic Garden Club, and a longtime member and past president of the Hernando Women’s Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs. Joan loved art, books, flowers, her family, her friends and her church. Arrangements are Saturday, Oct. 7 at Hernando United Methodist Church. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. The service will follow at 11 a.m. Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
