Paul R. Paden, of Hernando, went to be with the Lord Monday, April 2 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville, Tenn. on his birthday. He was 86. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 5 at Hernando Baptist Church. Visitation for his many friends will begin at 10 a.m. with the service to follow at 11 a.m. He was born in Houston on April 2, 1932 to Jessie and Beatrice Paden. Paul Paden was preceded in death by siblings Agnes Page, Elkin Paden and Ernest Paden. He was a loving husband to two wives, both deceased, Mattie Cox ( Paden ) of Verona and Ruby Huey (Paden) of Hernando. Paul Paden was a combat veteran of the Korean War who served in the United States Navy as a boatswain’s mate. Paul and Mattie Paden made their home in Memphis, Tenn. Paul was employed for 35 years at Kellogg’s as a plant inspector and was especially proud of his perfect attendance record. In his earlier years, he participated and won dance contests at the VFW with his beloved Mattie. He enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash gospel music. His favorite past times were with his family, reading his Bible, camping outdoors and watching John Wayne movies. He loved westerns. Following the death of his beloved Mattie, in time, Paul was blessed to meet Ruby Huey who he married and shared his life with until her passing. He is survived by three children Richard Paden ( Folsom, La ) Dennis Paden (Germantown) and Pamela Burks (Collierville) and step children Susan Patrick (Hernando), Larry Huey and the late Sheila Huey. He will be greatly missed by his 16 Grandchildren, and 11 great-grand-children.
