W. Floyd Minatrea Jr., 81, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018. He served two tours in Vietnam and was retired from the U. S. Navy. He then went on to retire from Northwest Mississippi Community College as an Aviation Mechanics instructor. Mr. Minatrea enjoyed playing guitar and singing country music. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday at Hernando Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hernando Funeral Home with interment to follow in Hernando Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Bell Minatrea; son W. Floyd Minatrea III; sisters, Laverne Armstrong, Linda Williams, Wanda Manuel. Survivors include his daughters, Tracey Minatrea Garrett of Hernando, Casey Minatrea of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandson, B. Cole Garrett of Hernando; sisters, Freida Hartman of Wellington, Texas, Nell Doss (Ricky) of Yorktown, Texas; brother, Alvin Minatrea (Linda) of Garland, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hernando Animal Shelter.
