Wendy Kathleen Myers (Leigh), 45, passed away peacefully at her family’s home in Hernando on Jan. 3, 2019. Born May 22, 1973, Wendy was dearly loved by her family, to whom she dedicated her love and life. She was an amazing person. Her character, talent and love displays in her children as well as the countless young students whose lives she touched in her career as a preschool director, teacher and elementary school administrator. She had a positive impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She served her family and friends well and she will always be remembered for her many talents she so passionately shared with the world — especially her unwavering kindness. Wendy graduated from the University of Mississippi with a B.S. in elementary education and obtained her master’s degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University. She was employed as an assistant principal at Hernando Hills Elementary School. The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. Saturday at
Hernando United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hernando United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Hernando Memorial Park. Hernando Funeral Home has charge. Wendy is survived by husband William P. Myers and their beautiful children whom she loved with all of her heart, Townsend Leigh, Claiborne Henry and Miller Kathleen; parents Rick and Kathy Leigh; brothers Lucas (Irish) and Bridge Leigh; niece Uno Leigh; nephew Reddy Leigh; cousins Robin Leigh Patterson and Christy Leigh Perkins, with whom she was raised as sisters; cousins Deke and Savannah Barron, Amanda Leigh DiPippa, and Tucker Leigh; uncles Bob Leigh and Toby Leigh; aunts Cindy Leigh and Dixie Leigh; adopted aunt Peggy Emerson; and countless other family and dear friends. We are all better for having known Wendy Leigh.
