William Murray Hunt, age 91, of Southaven, passed away on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019. He is preceded in death by his father and mother James Nathaniel Hunt and Rachel Blevens Hunt; brothers, James Hunt, Harold Lee Hunt, Allen Hunt, Robert Earl Hunt and son Steven Lawrence Hunt. He is survived by his loving wife, Louise Calvi Hunt; his sister Mattie Sue Massey; his son William Murray Hunt Jr.; his daughter, Barbara Hunt Acree, seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Bill was born Dec. 1, 1927 in Senatobia. During his life Bill, or as he was best known “Pop,” volunteered for the U.S. Navy, worked as a mechanic at Ford Motor Company for 10 years and then worked at International Harvester until his retirement after 30 years of service. He also served as a volunteer fireman, a golf pro and a handyman along the way. As evidenced by his history, he was a man of many talents. The funeral will take place at the Minor Memorial United Methodist Church on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019. Visitation from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., service at 10 a.m. and graveside service to follow at Forest Hill South Memorial Park located at 2545 E. Holmes Rd Memphis, TN 38118. The family asks that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or flowers are also appreciated.
