Jitaurious Gordon

Northwest Mississippi Community College sophomore point guard and former Horn Lake High standout Jitaurious Gordon received MACJC Player of the Week recognition following two solid performances in a pair of losses to Northeast and East Mississippi last week.

For the first time in his two-year career at Northwest Mississippi Community College, sophomore point guard Jitaurious Gordon has been selected as the MACJC Player of the Week, league officials announced on Tuesday morning.

In a pair of tightly contested losses last week, Gordon averaged 24 points, 9.5 rebounds and five assists. His rebound average was particularly impressive, as the point guard averaged more rebounds over last week's span than anyone else on the team.

Gordon notched his first career double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds in a 98-94 loss to Northeast on Jan. 14.

In a 102-89 road loss at East Mississippi on Jan. 17, the Horn Lake product and Nicholls State signee nearly came away with a triple-double (23-9-6) before fouling out with eight minutes left in regulation.

For his sophomore campaign, Gordon is averaging 19.4 points and four rebounds per game, while also totaling 54 steals and 42 assists, both team highs.

Gordon is the first Ranger to win conference Player of the Week honors and the first selection since Seth LeDay in February 2016.

Northwest sits at 8-6 overall and 2-3 in the MACJC North Division. The Rangers will look to stop a three-game losing skid on Thursday, Jan. 24 against Holmes in Senatobia.
